  • Baskets’ second JBBL team kicks off in Cologne

In cooperation with the Rise and Grind Basketball Academy, the Baskets will also integrate more young talents from the Cologne area into their own training programme. In order for the Baskets Bonn/Cologne RAG team to actually compete in the JBBL, it must first compete in the JBBL qualifiers ahead of the coming season.

“Expanding our club through new partnerships is one of our most important goals. We are therefore delighted to announce the formation of a second JBBL team in Cologne in close cooperation with Marian Reibert, whom we would like to thank warmly for his support. This region has enormous potential in basketball, and we are convinced that every young player should have the opportunity to compete at a high level without being restricted by logistical hurdles. The new team will be closely linked to our club in terms of sport and technology and will offer all players and coaches involved a clear perspective towards the Bundesliga. We are very excited to see how this project will develop in the coming years,” says Francesco Tubiana, sporting director of Baskets Bonn e.V., about the founding of the Baskets’ second U16 Bundesliga team.

The JBBL team will offer talented young players another platform for their own development. At the same time, they can continue to be part of their home club. This will also provide long-term support for talented players from the wider Cologne area.

“This cooperation is a real milestone for basketball in the Rhineland,” explains Marian Reibert, co-initiator of the Rise and Grind Basketball Academy. “We are creating new prospects for talented players from the region, who no longer have to relocate in order to receive training at the highest level. As a supplement to existing sports clubs, we at the Rise and Grind Academy offer individual and small group training as well as international camps and tournaments, providing the necessary support for many players to make it into the youth Bundesliga. We are very much looking forward to competing there with a new team together with the Baskets after what we hope will be a successful qualification.”

All information about the new team is available at www.jbbl-koeln.de and on Instagram at @rise_and_grind_basketball. Interested young players can now apply for a tryout for the new JBBL team on the official homepage.
